During the war years high school students in Surrey experienced many changes and some serious challenges.  Amongst the issues faced in the schools was a rapidly rising number of students, resulting in additional schools, but without enough appropriate school equipment or teachers to meet the needs. The wartime economy also created new job opportunities and diversions from school for students.1
